About Quick Release

Quick Release has had many forms over the last 8 years. Started by David Myers, a commercial photographer, as a way to turn a life long cycling passion into a business. Race promotion took hold as QR tried to define itself. With a clear mission, David teamed with local Michigan racing legend Paul Alman who had been promoting races in the area for more than 15 years. QR quickly became the largest promoter of road bicycle racing in the State at one point putting on 14 different events in one season.

In 2001, David started turning his attention to coaching local racers. In 2003, he helped the local Ann Arbor Velo Club host a USA Cycling Expert Coaching Clinic and was appointed Coaching Manager of that club and began spending more time as a coach in that program.

At the same time, the USCF was reorginizing the way it worked with States. Paul took this opportunity to form the Michigan Bicycle Racing Association, a logical extension of the hightly successful Michigan Challenge Points Series which he and David started to help reviitalize road racing in Michigan. Paul currently serves as its Executive Director and officiates at many races around the State.

With their expanded roles in the community, some of the events that Quick Release promoted were turned over to other Michigan clubs.

In 2004, Quick Release split into two companies to clearly diffentiate between event promotion and non-profit fund raising. Quick Release Event Promotions, LLC promotes and manages road and cycloscross events. The Ann Arbor Spring Training Series and the Fall Veteran's cyclocross races continue to be a cornerstone of Michigan racing.

Quick Release Racing, Inc., a Michigan non-profit, was formed as a sports management company and is now the owner of Ford Cycling, a women's National mountain bike team. As well, QRR works with several cycling programs around the country including the Ann Arbor Velo Club, Ford Midwest and Orlando Velo and Ford--Basis Cycling.

2005 takes Quick Release Events into the mountain bike arean teaming with Ford Motor Company and Tailwind Promotions to bring you the 2005 Ford Michigan NORBA Series.

We look forward to seeing you on the road or trail again this season.
